Oil Filter Wrenches

There are four common types of oil filter wrenches: strap. The simple strap wrench is the most popular and can handle most filters. A more sophisticated filter wrench combines a strap or band wrench with a ratchet drive. This type is useful when the filter is located in an out of the way place. The filters on some vehicles can only be removed with this type of wrench.

The other two types of filter wrenches are applied to the end of the oil filter, and both use a ratchet drive.
